Ethical and Sustainable

Made for You with Our Planet in Mind.

At Sun50, we know where our fabrics come from and we know who is making our garments. You should too.

Who Makes Our Clothes?

Every design, pattern, and sample is made by our Sun50 team. From our headquarters in Minneapolis, we create unique, artistic pieces designed for comfort, sun protection, happiness, and a flattering fit. In fact, our fit model is on our team, so we have true consistency in our sizing. Our philosophy is: “if our team is proud to wear our new concepts, then we will put it into production!”

Our style cutting, sewing and packaging is done in Los Angeles. We visit our production house frequently to ensure proper fit, oversee production and catch up with the people who make our clothes. We consider them part of our Sun50 family. In addition, our production partners work under safe and healthy factory guidelines which are governed by the state of California and are even more stringent since COVID-19.

At Sun50, we are committed to slow batch production of our styles. By doing so, we reduce waste and adjust inventory to better accommodate our customers and keep our collections fresh. Our apparel ships from Los Angeles directly to our warehouse in Minnesota, then to you!

Our LA partners are making masks in support of essential workers for LA Protects.

Ethically Made, Responsibly Sourced.

Ethical and responsible sourcing and manufacturing are paramount to us. We work with suppliers and partners who share our fair trade and environmental value system. We are dedicated to slow fashion, which means we do small batch runs of our styles to control quality and reduce waste. Our clothing is made to last and our prices reflect the integrity of our brand. Fast fashion is inexpensive, but it comes at a high social and environmental cost to you, our neighbors and our planet.

From Concept to Creation.

We prefer sustainable & organic materials which are naturally sun protective and made in the USA. In fact, we visit our fabric suppliers frequently. All of our fabric printing and tie-dying is done in California, where eco-friendly dyes and safe & healthy working conditions are adhered to.

In order to achieve the highest levels of UPF 50+ sun protection, utilizing the lightest weight fabric, we sometimes use imported fabric, but our imported fabrics must be bluesign® approved. A bluesign® certification offers the highest level of consumer safety, by employing methods and materials in their manufacturing process which conserve resources and minimize impacts on people and our planet.

Sun50 fabrics have received the prestigious Skin Cancer Foundation Seal of Recommendation.
